Job Description

Are you a top-performing commercial lender with a strong footprint in Southeast Michigan and a robust network of business relationships? Are you ready to take on a unique opportunity to establish and grow a brand-new branch in the thriving Detroit market? If so, we want to meet you.

We’re seeking Senior Commercial Lenders to join our team and help launch a new branch focused on building a competitive and dynamic presence in Detroit. This role requires a highly motivated, entrepreneurial individual with a strong book of business and expertise in Commercial and Industrial (C&I) and Commercial Real Estate (CRE) lending.

What You’ll Do

  • Develop and grow a high-quality portfolio by originating new business loans in C&I sectors such as industrial, healthcare, and CRE properties, including office buildings, retail centers, industrial, and owner-occupied spaces like manufacturing and office facilities.
  • Leverage your existing book of business and strong relationships to quickly establish a foothold in the Detroit market.
  • Build lasting relationships with business owners, developers, and referral partners by providing tailored financial solutions to meet their unique needs.
  • Structure, negotiate, and close commercial loans while adhering to sound credit practices and regulatory requirements.
  • Represent the organization in Southeast Michigan’s business community, establishing credibility and positioning the branch as a key financial partner for local businesses.
  • Collaborate with internal credit, underwriting, and leadership teams to drive growth and profitability.

What We’re Looking For

  • Experience: At least 7-10 years of commercial lending experience, with expertise in C&I lending (industrial, healthcare) and CRE lending (office, retail, industrial, owner-occupied properties).
  • Proven Book of Business: A well-established portfolio of clients and a strong network of business relationships in Southeast Michigan.
  • Market Knowledge: Deep understanding of Detroit’s economic landscape and key industries, including industrial, healthcare, and real estate development.
  • Entrepreneurial Spirit: A self-starter who thrives in a new and growing environment, capable of independently driving results and building from the ground up.
  • Sales Acumen: Exceptional relationship-building and business development skills, with the ability to source and close new deals effectively.
  • Financial Expertise: Strong knowledge of credit structuring, underwriting principles, and financial statement analysis.
  • Community Presence: Active involvement in Southeast Michigan’s business community, with a track record of building long-term partnerships.

Why Join Us?

  • Pioneering Opportunity: Be at the forefront of launching and growing a brand-new branch in the heart of Detroit, with the autonomy to shape its success.
  • Supportive Culture: Join a financial institution that values relationships over transactions, emphasizing personalized service and strategic solutions.
  • Market Potential: Tap into Detroit’s growing market and capitalize on the demand for experienced, local lenders who understand the needs of the community.
  • Recognition & Rewards: Competitive compensation package, including a base salary, performance incentives, and comprehensive benefits.
  • Long-Term Growth: Work with an organization that is committed to helping businesses thrive while offering career advancement opportunities for high performers.
